'Coq de Leon' hackles are long fabled as the finest in
fly tying feathers. To
alleviate the shortage of quality, natural tailing fibers Whiting Farms
has developed the Tailing pack. The
Coq-de-Leon roosters, developed over hundreds of years in Spain, are
actually the oldest genetic chicken bred for fly tying feathers.
Their shoulder pelt feathers have exceptional quality and
uniquely speckled fibers, referred to as “Pardo’. The Hebert/Miner
line of dry fly hackle stock is also derived from Mediterranean chicken
stocks and has similarly high quality shoulder pelt.
Between these two lines of birds the full array of colors and
patterns needed for all tailing requirements can be obtained .It’s
the newest thing for all around dry and wet fly tying! Long standing,
the Coq de Leon feather is the best natural dry fly tailing feather
available, but did you know the Coq de Leon Hen feather has bustard-like
mottling perfect for wet fly tying and legging on mymphs? Give it a try!
